I bought a new sketchbook yesterday, and a few new pens. Sometimes that's all you need to get started on something.
One of the things I struggle with (daily!) in college is the fact that everyone in my class seems to have their own way of drawing people and I lack severely in that area. I'm not good at it- I have to work really hard at it, and drawing from my imagination- FORGET IT! Considering that I'm on an Illustration Course, this presents some serious problems, and over the past 6+ months I've been learning, literally from scratch, and trying to overcome this.
These are few photos of some people I've tried to characterize. This is really new to me, and I feel all vulnerable posting this- but It's all part of the learning process, so here they are, the next step in learning people-drawing.At the moment, I have no idea if my little people will stay looking that way- I expect they will change a lot as I search for something that feels 'me'.
Speaking of college, here is a photo one of my friends took outside our studio (she had a roll to finish). There's more to come, later. Thanks to everyone who's commented on the giveaway post! I'm really glad you like my journals/drawings, and that you're so interested in the course I'm taking. That's actually why I'm sharing this with you today! :]
p.s. If you're in Viv's (polkadotrobot) journal class, there is a sneak peek at one of my never-before-shown journals on the class blog!

everything you do is always so lovely! xoxo

I have a hard time drawing people too, but yours look great. I think they really fit your style of artwork!

I honestly honestly love your people drawings! Especially the man! The caricatured look to them is brilliant! I have problems with people too and I always just end up drawing cartoons of them. <3

Seriously, my boyfriend is on an MA Illustration course at Camberwell and is still finding his style. Buying notebooks and filling them with anything and everything really helps him and he's slowly but surely discovering a style and technique to his drawing. You'll be fine - and remember, one person's rubbish drawing is another's Mona Lisa! xx
