Working on deadlines for college = stressed and tired!!! But I've got some great rewards lined up- like the Wednesday Knit crawl tomorrow and taking my basic training test for my scooter on the weekend! Fingers crossed that I can survive these next few days! (William Morris Chintz design from here.)
I had to hand in my 2,000 word essay today about different forms of Illustration, and I took a bit of a risk, arguing the case that Craftsmanship and Illustration go hand-in-hand. I'm pretty confident with my writing, but it's still kind of nerve wracking!
If you've never looked up Thomas Bewick or William Morris- I highly recommend them, they are lovely men who worked in the 18th and 19th century. Morris is particularly enchanting with his poetry talk. Plus, he's got a beard.
Here's a favourite quote from my Essay:
"... I mean the sort of beauty which would be attainable by all, if people could but begin to long for it. I do most earnestly desire that something more startling could be done than mere constant private grumbling and occasional public speaking to lift the standard of revolt against the sordidness which people are so stupid as to think necessary."- William Morris.
See you after this madness is over!
p.s. Would anyone be interested in me sharing some of my biggest 'inspirations'? Like, showing you some examples of their work and why I love them?
