it's a week to my birthday! a little under, in fact!
ahhhhhhhhhhhh! i feel so unprepared, and so ready at the same time. in different ways, but still.
confusing emotions!
i've decided i'm going to make cupcakes for the party.
and we've sorted the drinks out! (rum&coke and vodka, lime&lemonade. my favourites!) now. just need to do my costume...
got my hair re-done today. :]
i don't know why i feel compelled to act stupid in front of cameras lately.
new challenge went up on WORK YOUR SOUL last night!
woooooooo! this one was funnn!
we played a fantastic gig on thursday night, and we got pretty much our whole science department to come and watch! plus some very cool graphics teachers.
my heart was pounding and my legs were shaking and my arms were killing me, but i was just reminded of why we get excited to play. it's not about having to lug the drum kit around and how infurriating it is to try and co-ordinate bands, who are late and quick change overs.
the music!
i was forgetting the music. haha.
we played Duffy and My Generation, which are my two favourite covers to play, along with teenage kicks, and our fans were screaming for an encore. i felt like keith moon.
plus we had an ace opening act- some lovely lads from our school!
i've only edited half of the photos from the night, but you can find them here.
last thursday was also the last day of term, so we get a week off! that means; etsy love coming your way!
we've just finished a graphics project, here's two photos of some 3D things i made!
yeah- it's based on typewriters!
okay. my parents are going to killl me. i need sleep!
love!

a new little thing.
(inspired by ashleyg and anke and more of my favourite illustrators.)
i am working on growing my illustration skills and finding my style.
there is a long road ahead of me, indeed.
this is going towards part of my A2 Graphics work. thoughts?
at the moment this is the very very raw beginings.
info- drawn with pen on paper, scanned and added colour digitally.
&please don't get excited. i know it looks like me- but there is no-one special.
&&i am slowing scanning film. tring to do at least one a day. check flickr!
&&&i will have more visual updates as soon as this week is oovvverrrr!

okay. wow. it's almost halloween already?
that means. i'm almost 18.
wow. yup. that's my birthday alright! :D
i am currently thinking of ways to make this a great party day, because i often have to fight for people's time, being halloween, i rarely get to party on my actual day. this year it's a friday, so all is good!
i met this really lovely lady who had the buttons my heart were searching for! i did a little make-and-take and visit in my old local scrap-store, in california, where i used to work. gee- i miss that place.
anyway. i digress (i'm really good at that. haha)
she has a kit club and her name is daniela and she asked me to be guest designer this month!
the mini-book was so fun to make. more pictures on her blog! and the kit was PACKED with fun vintage-y goodies! i had alot of stuff left so i just cranked out some pages as well.
i don't think i have used this much purple, since i was 13.
Sheri (owner of MDW) would be proud!
it found it a real challenge, because i normally stear clear of the really holiday-ish supplies but- seriously? this was amazingggggg.
she's new to typepad- so go and say hi, if you feel like it.
also.
i am in LOVEEEEEEEEE.
i've got the butterflies.
and the self-doubt.
it's got to be love.
who?
camberwell university.
:D haha. i almost didn't feel cool enough to be there.
i have loads of work to do. tonight is an all-nighter. tomorrow is a gig. friday is a party. saturday is another gig, so i will speak to you on sunday, most likely!
hugs, kisses,
kimxxooo!!!

So, the first prompt/tutorial is up! i'm not going to say what it is, but here is a clue;
now, CLICK. and come join us :]
haha. in other news, i am just aching to share with you some filmloves. there is really something special about film. it's the warm feeling of knowing that it is real and you can touch it, and it comes from somewhere, and the nervous energy around not messing it up (too much) and the grain. and the smell of film. you are all going to think i am absoluetley nuts, but expired film is the grossest smelling thing in the world (same with darkroom chemicals) but they are comforts to me. anyway, i scanned some medium format in yesterday. from may and june and july! (it's quite a deal to get the scanner and me and the right computer in the right place at the right time as to not take too much time away from the teacher who's computer i have to use... anyway, makes it more special.)
isn't maddy beautiful!?!
i am waiting for the leaves to turn. i need to go out and take pictures just for the fun of it.
myles is getting bored.
so is baby james.
i love you. remember to have a look at WYS.

YAY!
you have no idea how excited i am!
seriously.
okay. so the first big news is;
I'm the Guest Designer for Creative Type!
I had so so much fun doing these projects!
you can see them all over at the blog- the prompt this week totally rocks!
ALSO!
and now this is really really exciting...
you know Jen, right?
well, she came to me a few months ago with this idea to start a really neat project. And when we put our heads together, something magical happened. Somewhere in between the super long e-mails and mix-tapes, sparked a funky idea, which we've named;
WORK YOUR SOUL.
see that big blue arrow to your right?
if you click that baby, you can visit our newest love.
A challenge blog!
we are introducing it today, but you're going to have to stick around till friday for the first challenge.
We're combining the old and the new- there will be a bit of scrappy-ness, a bit of journalling, some how-tos, a lot of photography tutorials, and a ridiculous amount of retrolove.
well, we're fond of it.
and we kind of thought you might be too.
come say 'hi'.

first, let me just say that i am LOVING the new ventures that are going on. (like HalfCaf- oh my. i covet all of the goodies there! and not 'new' but i love this blog!) and all the kits for this month are GORGEOUS. wow. i am drolling here, and thinking about spending all my savings on about 12 different autumn themed kits. i am excited because my designs for some new POW!papers are coming along nicely, and i just want to share share share! But first, i should really get my portfolio ready...
We went to Kingston University on Saturday. I love it. it's right on the river and just. YUM! They have lots of old style printing and things. it's my Number 2 choice. (going to see Number 1 next Tues!). Anyway, i got all inspired and i think i might do some printing this week. This is a photo of a template thing from may for some prints i was playing with. :D i have so much to learn, but i love it!!
I have some finds and things to show :]
i made a new 'messy book' covering it in fabric, which was fun! also made a few books for friends for birthdays. :] i'm slowly getting better at binding.
and a scrappage i finished.
i found these cute boxes at our charity shop...
(can you tell i'm diggin' paisley?!? haha!)
and my mum bought me, my first real set of kitchen things for when i move to uni! i love them!
EEP! how cute are they! we got them for £3 (that's like $6!!!!) haha bargain! My desk is slowly becoming more and more of a happy santuary with nice colour combos and books and projects!
ah! i'm so inspired i don't know what to do with myself! haha. i should really get some sleep though, i had a busy day yesterday and this week is jampacked!
just one more thing...
i'm so proud of my mum, she has lost 3 stone! And above that, she is just every-day amazing. winning first prize in quilt shows and things :D
I've finally made a blog with some of my favourite quilts from the show. more here.
okay, if all goes well there will be some BIG news for you this week!
