my dad's birthday.

It's my Dad's birthday today, and he didn't want anything too special- just some more music to listen to on his way to and from work. To make it a little more special I made CD's for him, with fun writing and little covers. It was super easy- so I thought I'd share with you! You'll need a computer, a sharpie, good music and some black CD's to fill up with yummy tunes.Go crazy designing your 'covers' for albums. haha. the Cat Stevens one ended up being my favourite:If you want to make little holders for them- take a regular A$ (or 8.5 by 11) piece of paper and put your disc(s) in the middle and fold it up:It's really easy. There are more complicated ways- but this is the easiest and you can customize it so many ways. Fold the other two sides (leave some wiggle room to get them in and out) and tape it up.This time, I printed out some of the Kitchy Digitals paper and used that to make it a little more special. I also cut a little hole out of one of them, as a 'peek'- just make sure you don't cut the hole too big or the disc will fall out.I gave them to him this morning, and he loved it. Said he sang along in the car on the way to work too- which he hardly ever does. cute!
a little note about copyright: i buy all my music, so the artists get money- i think it's important that they get supported, but a little bit of sharing is alright with me. afterall- it's like a mixtape. :] everyone loves music. <3

AND. I'm working on my camberwell blog more this week- got to post my summer project and some research. you might find it interesting (or you may find it dull!), but it's happening. I'm also taking part in a Zine Fair/ Table Top & Jumble Sale at the college on the 27th. It's supposed to be a UAL freshers thing- but they wanted me to spread the word- so i'm sure if you showed up it'd be cool. :D OK. On with the show!

I started this little series back in July-and I think it's about time that I start to finish it off. here is the first 25 and the second. Now for the next installment: 51. My friends are really talented.

look who i found...

hanging out in an old sketchbook: I've been daydreaming a lot about mods lately. We drive the route that the old Mods and Rocker's ride from London to Brighton and we often see a lambrettas and other amazing vehicles. it feels like magic to me.These are just silly little doodles in an old sketchbook, thought it might make some of you smiles out there.

doodle time.

I've done my first real post over at my Camberwell Blog (which I need to make a button for- i know), about my Doodle Book that I've been chatting about on twitter for ages. You'll want to go look at that blog for more pages. These are my favourite. What do you think? (yes, yes- most of these are based on True Blood! haha).I know these are way different from what I normally do- but that's what I love about them. playing around...

So, I've always been curious about digital scrapbooking. Never tried it. Well, until this morning. I've always been kind of in awe of the Kitchy Digitals stuff. And I've seen some of my favourite scrapbookers use the kits. Anyway, I figured now would be a perfect time to try some of them out, so... These are my results. All three pages made from: Calico Dream Kit, Chalkboard Paper, and Granny's Attic Kit. And the fonts I found from here: Font Squirrel. I used that minty doily and some of the pattern paper to create that scallop in the first one. And the wrinkled fabric paper and the shape of the flowers to create the little accent in the middle one. haha. i know they aren't amazing, just playing.

Gosh. I haven't really 'scrapbooked' in a long time. I've been journalling and I do sketchbooks all the time. Is it weird that I feel like there is a huge barrier there? Why does one have to be so exclusive of the other? Hmm. Just thoughts. I did find that this was quick and easy and satisfying. Don't really know what I'll do with these pages now, but I'm looking forward to printing some out and playing 'in real life' with the different elements.

need a change.

So- I've been building my blog for Camberwell Illustration (we are expected to have a blogger one) and now I'm looking at this blog and it looks a little... empty. I guess it's time for an update anyway. I'm excited! But it'll have to wait until I get a few things in order.I took some studio photos especially for the header and I didn't realize how much colour there actually is. (what you can't see is all the stuff piled up for a bathroom renevation! yikes!)

the sale extras.

(this photo cracks me up because i couldn't get it to stay up there.) I didn't get a chance to photograph these guys properly until after the sale, but here are the two free things I was offering as a special during my sale. If this gets a good response, I'll think about putting them up in the shop for reals. :] So let me know what you think!The Doilies- which are hand crocheted and made without a pattern (i.e. i just make it up as i go along) and in various colours. They are made with super thin thread and are perfect for journals, coasters, decoration or as part of a diy project. Definitely my favourite thing to do at the moment. Like snow flakes, no two are the same!!(can you see the city reflected in my glasses?!)
and The Mini Prints: Each set contained 4 random prints that are wallet sized and are meant to either bring you some smiles when you're looking for your Oyster card or to brighten up a wall space or journal. I picked the images from my blog and flickr- the ones that had the best reactions and worked well together. [: (please excuse my hairdye finger nails. haha!) And they are packaged in a cute half envelope that I thrifted.

I used the doilies as a backdrop for my doodle book too, but I'll leave that for another post. i love you! kxo

This is a photo that my mum took of me pulling in and parking my scooter outside her kitchen window. I can't wait to start riding again for reals. (Remember when I was super mod?
