This week, I'll be sharing a drawing a day from my sketchbooks from the begining of my Illustration degree. [: Enjoy!
Our assignment was to do 30 or 40 drawings of people around Spitalfields. We were encouraged to try and look at them in different ways... use only blobs of colour, draw only shoes, see the space around the person... etc etc. It was raining, so for a while I played with the idea of drawing the people as shapes of raindrops...
Watercolours. People in Spitalfields.

I'm really interested in water drops ATM, you know the ones you get on the windscreen of the car as your driving along. I've been trying to photograph them for later observation (obviously I'm not driving ha ha) but I can't get a good shot and it's very frustrating! The rain is so inspiring. Love how you've painted the leaves on the tree to capture the shape of the actual leaves. I think that's the difference between landscape painting and illustration isn't it? You capture the details whereas landscapes can often be a blur of implied textures. Just typing here lol
