Here's a little video I did as part of the CHANNEL project. Thanks to everyone who tuned in to watch during my show. :] I know there were some problems with showing the films at certain times- they were having a lot of technical difficulties. Hopefully in the next few weeks all the pre-recorded programs will be online for you to enjoy at your leisure. Today at college... :: BA Illustration.

I've just got to share this with you because I've been filming all day and I'm really excited about it! As part of Channel, one of the productions is an Under The Sea Music Video. My friends made the set and organised everything- I was just being the camera woman today (which I LOVE doing). It's so so so so nice to be behind the camera for a change. haha. And we were filming Dave- a good friend with a great beard, so that was a plus. The set is super amazing, all handmade props out of cheapo stuff that really makes it look and feel like a coral reef. We used bubbles and crazy lighting effects too. 
Ok- It's time for a rest and then our year is doing another fundraising event, this time it's called QUIZZARD. Basically, a pub quiz, but wizard themed. (No- I didn't come up with it. But it's the kind of thing I would, huh?! haha. Wizards.)

Art & Reality T.V. :: Camberwell BA. & Video.

Hello everyone! At college we are starting a new project in conjuction with the Graphic Design students. It's called 'Channel' and basically we are putting together a T.V. channel! It's a pretty exciting idea and I'm looking forward to getting my teeth in it a bit more.

As an excersise, we divided into 'departments' and then teamed up. I was in the Art and Reality T.V. department and we were all set a task to make a quick 1 min film 'pilot' for what kind of show we would have. Here is what we came up with...

It's just little and the text is really messy but I hope you found that a bit comical anyway. :] It was all filmed in college (which I thought you might find interesting too). 
We're reanalysing everything after seeing other people's 1min films. (See here.) Wonder where we will end up!
Here's some of the text. It was handdrawn and pieced together on photoshop. Tried to make it textured so it wasn't just sitting on top of the video but more embedded.

Fact + Fiction Studio Exhibition.:: Camberwell BA.

Hello! It's been assessment time around the Camberwell Illustration department. 1st years had thiers, we just finished ours and the 3rd years were looking pretty stressed today labeling all thier work. It's customary for the 2nd years to put on a little show around this time, celebrating the work we've all be doing over the last Unit.

There is a huge range of work up and EVERYONE has put in tons of hard work, and the quality/talent is amazing. Gosh, guys- I'm just so proud!
There are a few of my knitted pieces up on the wall and a brand new book activity book that I'm really excited about. I'll take some pictures tomorrow while the exhibition is up- but you can take a little look at some of the digital work from the last project HERE.

P.S. Talking about camberwell...One of my tutors this year- Luke Best- did a little interview recently. :] I think you'll find the video pretty inspiring. Also- you may just fall in love with this packing tape designed by another tutor of mine. 

New! Jean Bags! :: Etsy

You may have noticed some new tote bags in the shop! These are pretty special because they are built to last! Mum and I had a lot of fun designing these, because they are totally one-of-a-kind and full of little unique differences. Like some have built in pockets, or added pockets. Some still have the working zips, or tags inside. They are all made from old pairs of jeans and some reproductions 50's fabric. All sewn by Bev Smith 'Quilting Bee'. They are the perfect size for carrying library books, veg from your local market or drawing supplies for visiting a museum. Well, that's how I'd use mine, anyway! :]Find them here. :]

I'm pretty lucky to have a Mum that I consider a Best Friend. [: Since as long as I can remember, we've been making things together (or, at least me getting in her way!) and laughing and having fun. No matter where we are or what we're doing, we manage to have a good time.

I just wanted to semi-formally introduce her to you, because she is being a fabulous little elf in the Art Equals Happy studio! We've designed Two new products together & they will both be debuting at Renegade. Every piece handcrafted by Bev will have a special little tag in them too.These are some photos I took last year, but I love them. [: So, a little bit about her? Well, she is first and foremost a quilter. All the quilts in our house (we have a lot!) have been made by her & at one point she used to sew together quilts for people on her big long-arm machine, but since we've moved to England, it's been back to the good ol' Bernina. She is very good at leaving treats hidden around my house when she comes to visit, always makes the best home cooked meals, is a kind and thoughtful friend, likes to listen to the Bee Gees and audiobooks. She says she prefers to follow a pattern and is a little scared to choose colours, so we make a good team, because I love to make things up and I'm not shy about colour. haha.So, you can look forward to seeing a Vintage inspired garmet and an up-cycled bag that is a team effort from us! :D

Prick Your Finger peeks!

This month, I've been doing some Art Directing and Photographing for the lovely ladies at Prick Your Finger. [: We're still working hard on it- but here are a few peeks of the updates that they've made already!We love coming up with fun ways to photograph the great yarns, These are some of my photos that are up on the website, of the beautiful but rough carpet yarns (which are for sale online now!!). They are super great for outerwear or sculptural knitting- and totally unique!
If you have a poke around, you might be able to spot a couple of my photographs (the bicycle ones.. hint hint!) that are filtering on there.
I'm so excited to share with you the rest, as they go up (and the outtakes too, when it's all finished!!!)
