Amy's yarn. :: Wool On The Wheel & Spinning.

This weeks Wool on the Wheel : This is a little skein I made up for my friend Amy's birthday/christmas. I had some left over fleece from another project, and they just looked like Amy's colours- so I went with it. It's plied with some grey machine thread & is chunkyish.She made a lovely stripeey circle scarf & used it! Isn't she beautiful? (below photo from Amy's blog.)

DCW Briggs is now on the radar! :: Talented friends & Etsy.

Last week a friend of mine from Camberwell asked me to help him get his etsy shop up and running. He mainly makes comics, and they are amazing comics. So, let me welcome David Briggs to the world of online shop keeping. :] And introduce you to him. I think you'll like him, he draws and has a beard... what else do you need, right?(Above is behind-the-scenes of him photographing his zines.)

He is slowly updating the shop with issues as he makes them/finds old copies. You can keep up with him on his facebook or his tumblr.All of his drawings are hand-drawn, mainly with ink and brush or pen. They are usually pretty radical and strange with a liberal helping of old school 'sci-fi'.David is on my course at Camberwell (third year too!). You might've seen him in pictures here before. :] He's a great friend and illustrator. Support him by buying his comics here!

Craftivists Jam Event Review! :: Vlog & London

A few weeks ago, I spent a day in the sunshine with the Craftivist Collective. The video pretty much explains it all, so I won't say much here. I created a little Vlog/review for them about the day. There was also some pretty great music being played and there's a song at the end of the video performed by James Choice  that I highly recommend listening to- plus some footage of the adorable animals at Spitalfields City Farm.And yes- as with any vlog where I am talking to a camera- there are some awkward bits. I embrace the awkward. haha. Hopefully my thoughts/speech are coherent enough. If you'd like to get involved, check out the Craftivists website here. They are a great bunch.

Exquisite Corpses with Jazz. :: Illustration & Silly.

Jazz and I had about 30min to kill today, and this is what we did. We love drawing games- and Exquisite Corpse is the easiest and quickest (and usually funniest) one we know. 

If you've never done this before- it's super easy- one person starts drawing a face, then folds the paper so you can just see the lines of the neck and passes it on. The next person draws the torso without knowing what the first person has done- It gets passed around like this until you've completed the body.  

We started most of these from the bottom up today just for fun- and I thought they were so silly, I just had to share. haha!I really love that there are no rules and you can be as silly or serious as you like! I usually just treat it like a doodle and never really know what it's going to end up like! So much fun. :] (I was green marker and pencil.)Lots of love, Kimxo

Mixed Special :: Camberwell Illustration!

It's summer degree show time of year again- and this year, the 3rd Year Illustration students at Camberwell have done a really huge job! They are calling themselves 'Mixed Special' and have a truely cohesive design/look that showcases all the individual talent amazingly well. It's a bit scary thinking that next year, that's going to be us- and how on earth are we going to live up to this?

The private view at college was this monday, and I got a little snap-happy! I coloured these photos a little in the hope that if you like the work enough- you'll go to the Mixed Special website (or visit the external show in London) to see the real thing. :] Here are some of my favourite bits and pieces from the show:This (above) was three huge tiled pieces! And lots of bespoke handmade pottery!(below)Such a perfect mix of craftmanship and drawing. So much love for these guys, and all the best! kimxo

From Ame's eyes. :: Natural Dye.

Whilst filming for my Channel project- Ame (a fellow Illustration student) came and helped out with some of the more 'close up' shots of the Natural Dyeing process. Ame did a beautiful job- and also snapped these amazing film photos during the day.I love the overexposed, dreamy quality to these photos & check out this drawing Ame did too! Magic.Of course- Negs was no help at all- the lazy little kitty cat. hehe. But she does like it when Ame comes round and brings treats! :]

Here's a little video I did as part of the CHANNEL project. Thanks to everyone who tuned in to watch during my show. :] I know there were some problems with showing the films at certain times- they were having a lot of technical difficulties. Hopefully in the next few weeks all the pre-recorded programs will be online for you to enjoy at your leisure. There is a short 5 min video that shows Sam and Jack jamming on the boat- Sam lives there with another friend. It's a beautiful place, with a beautiful vibe.
